Museum versus archival approach to documents at memory institutions such as the Terezín Memorial

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje porovnání a možnému propojení muzejního a archivního popisu dokumentů archivní povahy, které jsou uložené v kulturně vědeckých institucích, mezi které se řadí například Památník Terezín. Nejprve je nastíněn historický vývoj u muzeí a galerií, následuje popis rozdílného způsobu evidence u těchto institucí včetně charakteristiky uložených materiálů. Ze sbírek Památníku Terezín bylo vybráno několik sbírkových předmětů, které byly zpracovány archivním způsobem dle Základních pravidel pro zpracování archiválií a výsledek byl komparován s evidencí, která je realizována v Památníku Terezín na základě muzejních pravidel v rámci evidence druhého stupně. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda lze archivní způsob zpracování použít i na sbírkový materiál uložený v ostatních paměťových institucích.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is devoted to the comparison and possible connection of museum and archival description of documents of an archival nature, which are stored in cultural and scientific institutions, including the Terezín Memorial. First, the historical development of museums and galleries was outlined, then the different methods of registration at these institutions were described, including a description of the content of stored materials. Several collection objects were selected from the collections of the Terezín Memorial, which were processed in an archival manner according to the Basic Rules for the Processing of Archival Records, and the result was compared with the records that are carried out in the Terezín Memorial based on museum rules as part of second-level records.. The aim of the work was to find out whether the archival method of processing can also be applied to collection material stored in other memory institutions.
