Effect of Physiotherapy on Functional Tremor in Patients with Functional movement disorder

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo zhodnotit účinek individuální ambulantní fyzioterapie u pacientů s funkčním třesem. Míra změny před a po absolvování ambulantní fyzioterapie byla u pacientů zjišťována na základě vyplnění zkrácené verze subjektivního dotazníku kvality života (SF–36) a objektivně za pomoci video protokolu, který byl následně hodnocen dle Zjednodušené škály hodnocení funkčních poruch hybnosti (SFMDRS). Výzkum byl zpracován z dat 13 pacientů, jejichž průměrný věk byl 57,2 let (17,7). Pacienti absolvovali 5 až 11 fyzioterapií. Ambulantní fyzioterapie prokázala u pacientů statisticky významný vliv na symptomy funkčního třesu. V subjektivním hodnocení byl zaznamenán signifikantní rozdíl pouze v oblasti vnímání změn zdravotního stavu. Nebyla prokázána korelace mezi věkem a mírou změny SFMDRS ani mezi délkou trvání příznaků a mírou změny SFMDRS. Byla ovšem prokázána statisticky významná souvislost mezi mírou změny subjektivního vnímání únavy, emoční pohody a sociálního fungování a mírou změny SFMDRS. Z výsledků této práce je zřejmé, že absolvování ambulantní fyzioterapie je přínosné pro zlepšení zdravotní-ho stavu pacientů s funkčním třesem.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis examines the effect of individual outpatient physiotherapy in patients with functional tremor. The rate of change before and after outpatient physiotherapy was assessed in patients based on filling in a shortened version of the subjective quality of life questionnaire (SF-36) and objectively with the help of a video protocol, which was subsequently assessed according to the Simplified Functional Mobility Disorders Rating Scale (SFMDRS). The research was processed from the data of 13 patients, the mean average age was 57.2 years (17.7). Patients completed 5 to 11 physiotherapy sessions. Outpatient physiotherapy demonstrated a statistically significant effect on the symptoms of functional tremor in patients. In the subjective evaluation, a significant difference was noted only in the area of perception of changes in health status. There was no correlation between age and SFMDRS rate of change, nor between symptom duration and SFMDRS rate of change. However, a statistically significant association was demonstrated between the degree of change in the subjective perception of fatigue, emotional well-being and social functioning and the degree of change in the SFMDRS. It is clear from the results of this work that undergoing outpatient physiotherapy is beneficial for improving the health status of patients with functional tremor.
