Zoological gardens as objects of garden and landscape design

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem řešení na použití vegetačních prvků se zohledněním tématu zoo-expozic, dále práce rozebírá udržovací péči vegetačních prvků v prostředí zoologické zahrady, vynaloženými náklady a možnostmi jejich snížení. V práci se nachází vymezení základních pojmů z oblasti zoologie, prostředí zoologických zahrad a pojmy z managementu péče o zeleň. Součástí práce je rozbor významu zoologických zahrad a zoogeografického a fytogeografického členění expozic v návaznosti na vegetaci. Práce se věnuje přístupům v péči o zeleň ve venkovních expozicích jednotlivých výběhů a možnostem péče o vegetační prvky v tomto prostoru. V praktické části jsou v modelovém území zdokumentované vegetační prvky a vykalkulované náklady na jejich udržovací péči. Řešené území je součástí areálu zoologické zahrady Praha. Součástí práce je i vypracovaný metodický postup forem ochrany vegetačních prvků přímo v expozicích. Výsledkem práce je vytvoření obecné metodiky, která by v budoucnu pomáhala s výběrem a ochranou vegetačních prvků v daných venkovních expozicích. Dalším cílem práce je představení možnosti vytvořit takový prostor, který v zoologických zahradách navodí pocit domoviny chovaných zvířat pomocí vegetačních prvků a jejich přirozených stanovišť a vytvoří správný iluzivní dojem celkové kompozice.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the design of solution for the use of vegetation elements where is taking into account the theme of zoo-exposures. We analyzed the maintenance care of vegetation elements in the environment of zoological gardens, costs incurred and possibilities of their reduction. In this thesis are defined a basic concepts of zoology, zoological environment and concepts of greenery management. Part of the work is focused on analysis of the importance of zoos and zoogeographical and phytogeographic classification of exposures in relation to vegetation. The thesis deals with approaches to greenery management in outdoor expositions of individual runs and possibilities of care for vegetation in this area. Practical part documents vegetation elements in the model area, with calculated costs for their maintenance. The mentioned area is part of the Prague Zoo. The work also includes a methodical procedure for the protection of vegetation elements directly in the expositions. The result of this work is the creating of a general methodology that would help in the future with the selection and protection of vegetation elements in given outdoor expositions. The main idea of this work is to introduce the possibility to create a space that evokes the feeling of the homeland for animals by using vegetation elements and their natural habitats and creates the correct illusive impression of the overall composition.
