Canistherapy in residential care for the elderly

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se v první části zabývám pojmem zooterapie, jeho definicí, vývojem a současným stavem. Dále druhy, typy a formami zooterapie. Následuje stěžejní kapitola mé diplomové práce, která se zabývá canisterapií. V úvodu této kapitoly definuji canisterapii, shrnu vývoj vztahu člověka a psa, historii canisterapie v České republice, ale i její současnost. Dále se zaměřím na legislativu a účastníky canisterapie, její průběh, efekty a cíle. V neposlední řadě se pak budu věnovat výzkumu z této oblasti. V následující kapitole se zabývám stařím, jeho rozdělením, změnami v tomto období a seniorem samotným. Nezapomínám ani na kapitolu rezidenční zařízení, v které toto zařízení definuji, následně vyjmenuji jeho druhy, blíže popíši domov pro seniory, podívám se také na legislativu a statistiky a v neposlední řadě na život seniora v rezidenčním zařízením a canisterapii v rezidenčním zařízení. Závěrečná kapitola mé diplomové práce se věnuje canisterapii se seniory. Přibližuje význam psa pro seniora, oblasti, které pes může ovlivnit, dále také cíle a aktivity canisterapie a v neposlední řadě významu psa pro seniora a výzkumům z oblasti canisterapie se seniory. Empirická část mé práce se zabývá názorem studentů na canisterapii se seniory. Jejím cílem je zjistit, zda a případně jak jsou studenti vysokých škol informováni o canisterapii se seniory v rezidenčních zařízeních.

Abstract:

In my thesis I deal with the term of zootherapy, its definition and present condition. Furthermore, I deal with the kinds, types and forms of pet therapy. Dealing with canistherapy, the more important part of my thesis follows. The introduction of this chapter defines canistherapy, summarizes the development of relationship between man and a dog, the history of canistherapy in the Czech Republic but also its present condition. Subsequently, I focus on legislation and the participants in canistherapy, its course, effects and the aims. Finally, I engage in research in this area. The following chapter deals with senility, its division, changes in this period and a senior himself. Not omitting the chapter of residential care facilities, I define the facility and name the types of care facilities. Moreover, I describe a retirements home, legislation and statistics. Finally, I describe the life of the elder in the residential care facilities and providing canistherapy there. The final chapter of my thesis describes canistherapy with seniors. It describe the importance of a dog for the elder, the areas that a dog may affect, as well as the aims and activities of canistherapy. Last but not least, it defines the importance of a dog for seniors and research in the field of pet therapy with seniors. The empirical part of my thesis deals with students' opinions on canistherapy with the elderly. Its main aim is to determine whether, and if so, the students are informed about canistherapy with seniors in the residential care facilities.
