Analysis of resting behavior of Czech fleckvieh bulls in fattening

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce bylo analyzovat odpočinkové chování býků českého strakatého skotu ve výkrmu ve vybraném chovu. V teoretické části se práce zabývá historií a významem chovu skotu, českým strakatým plemenem, využívanými technologiemi ustájení, krmení a napájení v chovu skotu a dále pak etologií skotu. Praktická část je zaměřena na popis a vyhodnocení sledování, které bylo provedeno ve výkrmu býků českého strakatého skotu. Sledování probíhalo v měsíčních intervalech po dobu jednoho roku (od února 2021 do ledna 2022). Při sledování, kterých bylo celkem 12, byly údaje zaznamenávány ve čtyřech časech (v 10:00, v 11:00, ve 13:00 a ve 14:00). Celkem bylo vyhodnoceno 3 920 individuálních záznamů. Sledovanými projevy odpočinkového chování bylo stání a ležení. U ležících býků se zaznamenávala preference (lateralita) pravého a levého boku. Dále bylo zaznamenáváno stáří býků a teplota stájového prostředí. Provedeným sledováním byly, až na výjimku, zjištěny statisticky neprůkazné výsledky. V těchto výsledcích však lze spatřit určitý vzorec chování při odpočinku u býků. Podle něj se sledovaní býci při odpočinkovém chování věnovali více ležení než stání. Při ležení zase preferovali více pravý než levý bok.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor's thesis was to analyze the resting behavior of Czech fleckvieh bulls in fattening in a selected breeding. The theoretical part deals with the history and importance of cattle breeding, the Czech fleckvieh cattle, the technologies used in housing, feeding and watering in cattle breeding and the ethology of cattle. The practical part is focused on the description and evaluation of the monitoring, which was performed in the fattening bulls of Czech fleckvieh cattle. Monitoring took place at monthly intervals for one year (from February 2021 to January 2022). During tracking, of which there were a total of 12, the data were recorded at four times (10:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 14:00). A total of 3 920 individual records were evaluated. The observed manifestations of resting behavior were standing and lying down. The preference (laterality) of the right and left side was recorded for lying bulls. The age of the bulls and the temperature of the stable environment were also written down. With the exception of the performed monitoring, statistically inconclusive results were found. However, a certain pattern of rest behavior in bulls can be seen in these results. According to him, the monitored bulls devoted more time to lying down than standing during their resting behavior. When lying down, they preferred the right side to the left.
