Report Redesign for Foreign Currency Valuation of Cash Account Balances

Abstract:

Táto práca má za cieľ nahradiť existujúci SAP report pre oceňovanie účtov vedených v cudzích menách. Nový report je implementovaný v súlade s aktuálnymi konvenciami programovania, aby bolo možné ho v budúcnosti jednoduchšie adaptovať na zmeny. Práca predstavuje účtovný proces oceňovania cudzích mien spolu s používanými metódami, a ozrejmuje zákonom vyžadované reportovanie v Poľsku. Poskytuje náhľad do toho, ako SAP podporuje lokalizáciu špecifických riešení pre rôzne krajiny, a aká je rola oddelenia Globalization Services. Existujúci report RFIDPL19 pre oceňovanie účtov v cudzích menách v Poľsku je detailne prezentovaný vrátane funkčných požiadaviek, zložitostí a nedostatkov daného riešenia. Analýza zákazníckych incidentov za posledné dva roky ukázala prekročené maximálne doby spracovania. Nový report, RFIDPL_FC_VAL, je implementovaný v SAP proprietárnom programovacom jazyku ABAP. Modularizácia kódu je dosiahnutá s použitím viacvrstvovej architektúry, a logický tok programu je podrobne vysvetlený. Výberová obrazovka programu je zjednodušená a navrhnutý výstup používa ABAP List Viewer na zlepšenie použiteľnosti a udržovateľnosti. Funkčnosť reportu je testovaná pomocou ABAP Unit, a výsledky sú v rámci end-to-end testovania porovnané voči pôvodnému RFIDPL19 reportu.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to redesign an existing SAP report for Foreign Currency Valuation, in order to adhere to current coding standards and enable easier adaptation to future changes. The accounting process of currency valuation is introduced and specific valuation methods are explained to reflect the legal reporting requirement in Poland. The thesis provides insights into SAP's support of localizing country-specific solutions and the role of Globalization Services. The existing report RFIDPL19 for Polish foreign currency valuation is explored, detailing the functional requirements and outlining its complexities and shortcomings. The analysis of customer cases over the past two years showed exceeded maximum processing times for this solution. The new report, RFIDPL_FC_VAL, is implemented in the SAP proprietary language ABAP. Modularization of the code is achieved by separating classes into layered architecture, and the logical flow is thoroughly explained. The selection screen of the report is simplified and the output is designed using ABAP List Viewer to enhance usability and maintainability. The report functionality is tested using ABAP Unit, and results of the new report are verified against RFIDPL19 by end-to-end testing.
