Abstract:

Kolekce, která se skládá ze sedmi hlavních šperků. Součástí jsou i další komponenty, kterými jdou jednotlivé šperky upevnit, pověsit nebo propojit. Šperky vychází z tvarů a struktur konkrétních očních duhovek. Jsou vytvořeny metodou 3D tištěné formy a jejího následného odlití ze stříbra metodou ztraceného vosku. Povrch všech šperků je galvanicky pokovený růžovým zlatem a následně zbroušen, takže růžové zlato zůstává pouze uvnitř struktury. Dva ze šperků jsou navíc ošetřeny patinou. Každé oko může fungovat samostatně jako talisman, který můžeme nosit při sobě nebo jako brož či náhrdelník. Díky propojení řetízky však může vzniknout i jeden ucelený objekt vytvořený z více očí. Největší oko má v průměru 5,8 cm a nejmenší 3,8 cm, všechny mají tloušťku 1mm. Kolekci základních šperků ve tvaru očí doplňují tři jehly o různých délkách (15,5cm zakončena bílou perlou , 13cm zakončena kroužkem na jejímž konci je připevněna tmavá perla a 9,5cm zakončena samostatným kroužkem). Dále je součástí kolekce 7 stříbrných řetízků o různých délkách, všechny jsou zakončeny závity, které umožňují jejich uchycení ke šperkům. Kolekci v neposlední řadě doplňují také tři perličky připevněné k závitům, které je možné našroubovat na zadní stranu očí a jsou tedy jakýmsi tajným doplňkem, o kterém ví pouze osoba, která šperk nosí. Ke každému šperku jsem zhotovil etuji z šedé flokáže, na níž je vyraženo logo EYE of UNI(LO)VERSE.

Abstract:

My diploma thesis is a collection of jewels which consist of seven main pieces and some additional components with both connecting and aesthetic function. The theme of the collection is a quote from Prof. Vratislav Karel Novak "The jewel is everything what we consider it to be ". I came to a conclusion that the jewel of every person is iris of his eye because of its unique beauty. I was fascinated by iris as being unique just like human finger prints and at the same time undeniably similar in the structure of its surface to some stones or even Galaxies. I then could not resist the idea that we could be made of stardust and I am sure I would find many other similar parallels between iris and the nature. I was also inspired by miniatures called "Lover's eyes" which were popular at the end of the 18th century. Lover's eyes were simple love tokens and they mostly had the form of miniature painting decorated with pearls and gemstones. Aim of my thesis was to transform this historical type of a jewel into a contemporary form. I achieved this with using a technology of 3D modeling and printing to reproduce unique structures of real eyes. I used photos of irises of my close friends to create particular pieces of the collection and I incorporated my own eye as well. When I was deciding which materials should I use for a realization of this collection, first I wanted to 3D print it from a plastic. Than I realized that it wouldn't be appropriate material for this type of the jewel so I decided to use 3D printing technology just for making a models which I than transformed into silver pieces through a lost-wax casting technique. The silver is in the collection complemented with pearls which are symbols of tears. With this combination of precious materials I wanted to enhance the uniqueness of these jewels which is already rooted in its template - the eye of one particular person which in addition is my close friend. 21 The jewels from my collection are meant to be gifts, with which we can in a symbolic way donate our own precious jewel - our eye, which is known to be a window to the soul.
