Picture of Life in the Jewish Community - the Brno Jewish community in the context of the outline of ceremonial rituals, assimilation, Zionism and attitudes to the Middle East issue

Abstract:

Diplomová práce má za úkol přiblížit brněnskou židovskou obec v historickém nástinu a počátcích jejího formování až po současnost. Předkládá širokou skladbu problematiky tohoto vývoje na našem území, jak v době meziválečného Československa, tak v poválečném časovém úseku. Práce je členěna do několika hlavních kapitol, kde se čtenář může seznámit detailně s důvody a charakteristikou vzniku brněnské židovské obce v moravském prostředí, obdobím jejího největšího rozmachu v době první republiky až po stagnaci v éře komunistické diktatury s komparací a lineárním propojením jejího vztahu k sionismu při budování izraelského státu. Použitím kombinací, jak historických, tak kulturně – sociologických metodologických výzkumných postupů se podařilo zachytit reálný obraz židovské brněnské obce v její rituální obřadnosti, religiozity a asimilace brněnských Židů, který umožňuje ukázat v plné šíři tento fenomén.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to bring the Brno Jewish community in the historical outline and the beginning of its formation to the present. It presents a broad mix of development issues in our country, both during the interwar Czechoslovakia and in the postwar period of time. The work is divided into several main chapters, where the reader can know in detail the reasons and characteristics of establishing the Brno Jewish community in Moravian environment, the period of its greatest expansion during the First Republic, after stagnation in the era of communist dictatorship, and comparisons with linear connecting its relationship to Zionism in building the Israeli state. Using a combination of how the historical and culturally - sociological research methodological practices have managed to capture the real picture of the Brno Jewish community in the ritual ceremony, religiosity and assimilation of the Jews of Brno, which can show the full breadth of this phenomenon.
