Bakalářská práce na téma mentálně postižené dítě v rodině se skládá se dvou částí, teoretické a empirické. Teoretická část je členěná do tří kapitol. První kapitola se týká historie péče o lidi s mentálním postižením. Druhá kapitola se zabývá mentální retardaci, její klasifikací, etiologií a diagnostikou.
