The experiencing of contact with a client from a crisis chat-based intervention worker’s perspective: the qualitative study

Abstract:

Krizová intervence je nedílnou součástí systému psychologické pomoci pro li-di, kteří se ocitnou v náročné životní situaci. Cílem této práce je hlubší prozkoumání žité zkušenosti krizových interventů na chatu se zaměřením na jejich prožívání kon-taktu s klientem. Teoretická část práce čtenářům představuje fenomén krize v životě člověka, krizovou formu pomoci a v neposlední řadě pracovníka krizové intervence na chatu. Informace z odborné literatury jsou doplněny o aktuální vědecké poznatky ve vztahu ke zkoumanému fenoménu. Pro studii byl zvolen kvalitativní design a se dvěma respondenty byl proveden polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Získaná data byla analyzována metodou interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy (IPA). Z detailního rozboru obou případů bylo identifiko-váno několik hlavních témat, vystihujících společné aspekty zkušenosti respondentů: ohraničené prožívání; konstrukce tvaru a protitvaru; zážitek prostupování hranic; význam kolegiální opory a dokončovacích rituálů; já a klient v procesu růstu.

Abstract:

Crisis intervention is an integral part of the psychological support system for people who find themselves in a difficult life situation. The aim of this thesis is to ex-plore in more depth the lived experience of crisis interventionists in the chat room, focusing on their lived experience of contact with the client. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the reader to the phenomenon of crisis in a person's life, the crisis form of help and last but not least the crisis intervention worker in the online chat room. The information from the literature is supplemented with current scienti-fic knowledge in relation to the phenomenon under study. A qualitative design was chosen for the study and a semi-structured interview was conducted with two respondents. The data collected was analysed using the me-thod of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). From the detailed analysis of the two cases, several main themes were identified, capturing common aspects of the respondents' experience: bounded experience; the construction of shape and counter-shape; the experience of boundary-penetration; the importance of collegial support and completion rituals; the self and the client in the process of growth.
