Xerothermic flora and vegetation of the railway cuttings along the track Veselí nad Moravou – Vrbovce

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá flórou a vegetací zářezů se zachovalými xerotermními trávníky v úseku železniční trati Veselí nad Moravou – Vrbovce. Studium probíhalo během vegetační sezóny 2009, a to jednak na úrovni floristické, kdy byl proveden druhový soupis 32 vybraných zářezů, jednak na úrovni fytocenologické, zapsáním 32 fytocenologických snímků. Snímky byly klasifikovány do tří skupin a pomocí expertního systému zařazeny celkem do čtyř asociací třídy Festuco-Brometea (Scabioso ochroleucae-Brachypodietum pinnati, Polygalo majoris-Brachypodietum pinnati, Plantagini marititimae-Caricetum flaccae a Geranio sanguinei-Peucedanetum cervariae) a do tří asociací třídy Artemisietea vulgaris (Dauco carotae-Picridetum hieracioidis, Falcario vulgaris-Elytrigietum repentis a Convolvulo arvensis-Brometum inermis). Vyčleněné skupiny byly charakterizovány pomocí diagnostických, konstantních a dominantních druhů a jejich stanovištní podmínky hodnoceny přímo pomocí měřených faktorů prostředí i nepřímo pomocí Ellenbergových indikačních hodnot. První skupinu představují snímky převážně ruderální vegetace, jejichž kontaktní biotop tvoří ve většině případů hnojená pole, takže dochází k pronikání nitrofytů z okolí do zářezů. Do druhé skupiny byly zařazeny snímky exponovaných stanovišť s rozvolněnou vegetací suchých trávníků s nízkým počtem druhů. Druhově nejbohatší byla třetí skupina sdružující snímky vegetace suchých trávníků v zářezech, které byly obklopeny extenzivně využívanou krajinou. Hlavní vliv na druhové složení snímků i druhových soupisů měl komplexní gradient pozice na transektu, s nímž korelovaly i další gradienty (zejména nadmořská výška a s ní související klimatické charakteristiky a způsob využití krajiny). Při porovnání s botanicky cennými lokalitami v okolí železniční trati zářezy prokázaly velkou druhovou bohatost a značný význam pro přežívání lokálního species pool druhů xerotermních trávníků třídy Festuco-Brometea. Mnohé z těchto druhů patří i mezi druhy vzácné a ohrožené. Příkladem může být kriticky ohrožené Thesium dollineri, které jsem zde objevil na třech lokalitách.

Abstract:

This study deals with flora and vegetation of dry grasslands in railway cuttings along a railway track from Veselí nad Moravou to Vrbovce. The field study was conducted during the growing season 2009, when complete species lists and phytosociological relevés were recorded in 32 selected cuttings. The relevés were classified into three groups using cluster analysis and assigned to phytosociological associations using expert system for automatic classification. A total of four associations of Festuco-Brometea class (Scabioso ochroleucae-Brachypodietum pinnati, Polygalo majoris-Brachypodietum pinnati, Plantagini marititimae-Caricetum flaccae and Geranio sanguinea-Peucedanetum cervariae) and three associations of Artemisietea vulgaris class (Dauco carotae-Picridetum hieracioidis, Falcario vulgaris-Elytrigietum repentis and Convolvulo arvensis-Brometum inermis) were identified. Relevé groups were characterized using diagnostic, constant and dominant species and their habitats were described using both directly measured environmental factors and Ellenberg indicator values. The first group of relevés includes mostly ruderal vegetation. Their sites are usually in contact with fertilized fields, therefore nitrophytes penetrate into railways cuttings from the surroundings. The second group includes relevés of sun-exposed habitats with open vegetation of dry grasslands with low number of species. The third group includes relevés of species-rich dry grasslands occurring in railway cuttings in colder region surrounded by land with extensive use. A major influence on species composition of both relevés and complete species lists exhibited a complex gradient of position on the transect. This gradient was correlated with such variables as altitude, climatic characteristics and land use type. When compared with other botanically valuable sites in the vicinity, railway cuttings proved their high species richness and importance for the maintenance of the local pool of species of dry grasslands of Festuco-Brometea class. Many of these are rare and endangered, such as the critically endangered Thesium dollineri, which I have found at three new sites.
