Information Technologies and Senior Citizens, Different Possibilities of the Approach to the Information Technologies and to the Information Education in the Czech republic and in the United States of America (State of Colorado)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem „Informační technologie a senioři, rozdílné možnosti v přístupu k informačním technologiím a k informační výchově v ČR a ve Spojených státech amerických (stát Colorado)“ představuje současnou situaci v oblasti informační gramotnosti a výchovy seniorů v těchto dvou státech. V teoretické části podává informace o demografickém stavu a předpokládaném vývoji populace, seznamuje s překážkami a handicapy, které vyšší věk klade seniorům v oblasti moderních informačních technologií a práce s nimi. Popisuje možnosti a rozdílné podmínky vzdělávání seniorů v této oblasti ve dvou diametrálně rozdílných zemích. Praktická část je věnována srovnání současné situace, které bylo provedeno formou výzkumu mezi organizacemi nabízejícími počítačové kurzy pro seniory, a dotazníkovým výzkumem mezi seniory v České republice a ve státu Colorado. Grafické provedení vyhodnocení výsledků potvrzuje či vyvrací hypotézy, které byly stanoveny před vlastním provedením výzkumu.

Abstract:

The Diploma Thesis „Information technologies and senior citizens, different possibilities of the approach to the information technologies and to the information education in the Czech republic and in the United States of America (State of Colorado)“ deals with current situation in the domain of information literacy and education of senior citizens in these two states. The theoretical part provides information about the demographic state and estimated development of population, acquaints with the difficulties and handicaps set by the higher age of the senior citizens in the domain of modern information technologies and theirs handling. Describes the possibilities and different conditions in the education of senior citizens in this domain in two completely different countries. The practical part is dedicated to the comparison of the current situation, which was achieved by a form of research between the organisations offering computer courses for senior citizens and questionnaire research between the senior citizens in the Czech republic and in the state of Colorado. The graphical model of evaluation of the results confirms or controverts the hypothesis defined before the research realisation itself.
