Monopoly in conditions of the Czech economy

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou monopolních podniků v České republice. V teoretické části práce je uvedena teorie konkurence s důraznějším zaměřením na nedokonalou konkurenci. V případě monopolu je přiblížen vznik monopolních podniků a jejich teoretické fungování na trhu. Dále jsou v práci uvedeny výhody monopolní síly a nevýhody pro okolní subjekty těchto podniků v podoběneefektivnosti a cenové diskriminace. V závěru teoretické části práce je řešena problematika antimonopolní politiky a možnosti regulace nežádoucích vlivů monopolů. V praktické části práce je teorie monopolu aplikována na konkrétní tržní subjekt, kterým je Státní tiskárna cenin, státní podnik. V úvodních kapitolách je charakterizováno výrobní zaměření podniku, dále je uvedena analýza vlivu produkce na ekonomiku státu a hospodaření podniku se stáním majetkem. V dalších kapitolách je provedena analýza podniku, zda splňuje charakteristické rysy monopolu. V závěru vlastní práce jsou uvedeny situace představující rizika pro podnik. Poslední kapitola shrnuje výsledky analýzy provedené v předchozí části práce.

Abstract:

The Diploma thesis is concerned with the problems of monopoly companies in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part of the thesis is introduced the theory of competition with a stronger focus on imperfect competition. In the case of a monopoly, the emergence of monopoly enterprises and their theoretical functioning on the market is approached. Furthermore, the thesis presents advantages of monopoly power and disadvantages for surrounding subjects of these enterprises in the form of inefficiency and price discrimination. At the end of the theoretical part is solved the issue of antitrust policy and the possibility of regulation of adverse effects of monopolies. In the practical part of the thesis, the monopoly theory is applied to a specific market entity, which is the State Printing Works of Securities, a state enterprise. In the introductory chapters the production orientation of the company is characterized, as well as an analysis of the influence of production on the state economy and management of the company with state property. The following chapters analyze the company whether it meets the characteristics of a monopoly. In the conclusion of my own work arem presented situations presenting risks for the company. The last chapter summarizes the results of the analysis performed in the previous part.
