Práce pojednává o vzniku a vývoji hudebního minimalismu, jeho charakteristice a hlavních představitelích. První kapitola se zabývá tématem redukce a minimalizace v umění obecně. Ve druhé kapitole je rozebrán vznik minimalismu, jeho vývoj a charakteristické znaky. Třetí až šestá kapitola popisuje život, kompoziční styl a díla hlavních představitelů.
