Contemporary foreign policy of Vietnam

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je soudobá zahraniční politika Vietnamu. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zhodnotit soudobou zahraniční politiku Vietnamu a k jeho naplnění jsou v práci využity metody analýzy, deskripce a komparace. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních kapitol, přičemž první část je zaměřena na teoretická východiska zahraniční politiky jako takové. Druhá kapitola pojednává o Vietnamu ze stručného historického kontextu, přičemž je zde kladen důraz na koncept vietnamské státní suverenity a národního zájmu. Třetí nejrozsáhlejší část je věnována analýze zahraničně-politických vztahů Vietnamu, a to ve třech hlavních érách. Jedná se o koloniální éru a s tím spojené francouzsko-vietnamské vztahy, následuje období Vietnamské války, přičemž hlavní roli zde hrají vztahy Vietnamu s USA a v neposlední řadě je významná část věnována také soudobým čínsko-vietnamským vztahům. Poslední kapitola pojednává o předběžném shrnutí výzkumných výsledků, jedná se o shrnující sekci celé práce. Daný výzkum napomohl k zodpovězení vybrané výzkumné otázky a pomocí podrobné analýzy bylo na závěr možné identifikovat proměny vietnamské státní suverenity a v jak velké míře tyto proměny následně ovlivňovaly národní zájmy Vietnamu.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the current foreign policy of Vietnam. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the current foreign policy of Vietnam and to achieve this aim, the methods of analysis, description and comparison are used. The work is divided into four main chapters, while the first part focuses on the theoretical basis of foreign policy as such. The second chapter deals with Vietnam from a brief historical context, emphasizing the concept of Vietnamese state sovereignty and national interest. The third most extensive part is devoted to the analysis of Vietnam's foreign policy relations, in three main eras. This is the colonial era associated with Franco-Vietnamese relations, followed by the Vietnam War, with Vietnam's relations with the United States playing a major role here, and last but not least, a significant part is also devoted to contemporary Sino-Vietnamese relations. The last chapter deals with a preliminary summary of research results, it is a summary section of the whole work. The research helped to answer selected research question, and with the help of a detailed analysis, it was possible to identify changes in Vietnam's state sovereignty and the extent to which these changes subsequently affected Vietnam's national interests.
