Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce poskytuje čtenáři kompletní a ucelený přehled o japonských stereotypech v americké kinematografii od doby němého filmu po jednadvacáté století. Výsledný katalog představuje každý stereotyp na pozadí tehdejších kulturních, ekonomických a politických vztahů mezi Spojenými státy a Japonskem. V seznamu je zahrnuto přes 150 amerických snímků.

Abstract:

The thesis gives a complete list of Japanese stereotypes in American film from the silent era to the early 21st century. Each stereotype is explained in the context of American-Japanese cultural, economic, and/or political background. Over 150 American films are listed in relation to a certain stereotype. The thesis concludes with an evaluation of the so-called post-racial discourse in Hollywood.
