Current possibilities and importance of screening refractive errors in preschool age children

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem diplomové práce je fotoscreening refrakčních vad u dětí předškolního věku. Práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní kapitoly, teoretickou a výzkumnou část. První podkapitoly teoretické části se věnují pravidelným očním prohlídkám a screeningu refrakčních vad. Další část je zaměřena na časté oční onemocnění a refrakční vady v dětském věku. Nezaměřuje se na jejich podrobný popis, ale spíše na jejich výskyt v dětské populaci a jejich možné následky, pokud nedojde k včasnému záchytu a zahájení terapie. Výzkumná část se soustřeďuje na výskyt refrakčních vad v dětské populaci a jejich záchyt pomocí přístroje Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener VS100.

Abstract:

The main topic of the diploma thesis is the photoscreening of refractive errors in preschool children. The work is divided into two main chapters, theoretical and research part. The first subchapters of the theoretical part are devoted to regular eye examinations and screening of refractive errors. The next part is focused on common eye diseases and refractive errors in children. It does not focus on their detailed description, but more on their occurrence in the paediatric population and their possible consequences if there is no early detection and initiation of therapy. The research part focuses on the occurrence of refractive errors in the paediatric population and their capture using the Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener VS100.
