Evaluation of yield and quality of selected spring barley varieties

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá hodnocením výnosu a kvalitativních ukazatelů sladovnické jakosti u vybraných odrůd ječmene jarního. V literárním přehledu je věnována pozornost aktuálnímu stavu pěstování ječmene v České republice, obecným informacím o této plodině, nejběžnějším chorobám ječmene, problematice tvorby výnosu a hodnocení kvalitativních parametrů. V experimentální části práce jsou popsány a statisticky vyhodnoceny výsledky z dvouletého polního pokusu, který proběhl ve šlechtitelské stanici Plant Select v Hrubčicích. V pokusu bylo sledováno 16 odrůd a šlechtitelských linií ječmene určených ke sladovnickému využití. Pozornost byla zaměřena na prvky hodnocené během vegetace, výnos zrn a na ukazatele sladovnické jakosti zrna. Na základě hodnocení byly vybrány linie překonávající kontrolní odrůdy v jednom nebo více znacích, které jsou potenciálně využitelné pro další selekci, a vyřazeny materiály s nevyhovující sladovnickou kvalitou.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of yield and qualitative indicators of malting quality in selected varieties of spring barley. The literature review pays attention to the current state of barley cultivation in the Czech Republic, general information about this crop, the most common barley diseases, yield issues and evaluation of quality parameters. The experimental part of the thesis is focused on the results obtained from a two-year field experiment, which took place at the Plant Select breeding station in Hrubčice, 16 malting barley varieties and breeding lines were tested. Attention was focused on important characters evaluated during the vegetation and after harvestparticularly grain yield and malt quality parameters. The lines outperforming the control varieties in one or more traits were selected as potentially useful for further breeding. The materials with unsatisfactory malting quality were discarded.
