Ethnical prejudices and stereotypes of current adolescents

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na etnické předsudky a stereotypy u současných adolescentů a je rozdělena do dvou částí ? teoretické a praktické. V teoretické části je rozebrána problematika předsudků a stereotypů, také jejich projevy. Dále je specifikováno vývojové období adolescence, vývoj předsudku v životě jedince a zjevné či skryté faktory, které ovlivňují předsudek a stereotyp. V praktické části je za pomocí Q-metodologie zjišťováno, jaké etnické předsudky a stereotypy mají současní adolescenti a do jaké kategorie se tyto předsudky svým projevem zařazují. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo ve 4. ročnících středních škol v Ostravě, jejichž studenti se mohou z charakteru studia setkat s příslušníky etnických menšin. Z výsledků šetření je patrné, že na předních příčkách je neochota navázat s příslušníkem romské etnické menšiny intimní vztah, domněnka zlepšení situace v případě vystěhování Romů z naší republiky, tvrzení diskriminace naopak a zneužívání státu a dále.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the ethnic prejudices and stereotypes of the present adolescents. It is divided into two parts ? the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part describes the problems of prejudices and stereotypes and also their real illustrations. Also the period of adolescence, the development of prejudices in the life of an individual and its obvious or hidden factors, which affect prejudices and stereotypes are described there. Using a Q-methodology it is tested in the practical part, which ethnic prejudices and stereotypes the present adolescents have and how their prejudices are classified according to their illustrations. The survey was done among the students of the fourth year of secondary schools in Ostrava, whose students may meet the members of an ethnic minority during their studies. From the results of the survey it is obvious that the top positions belong to unwillingness to establish a relationship with Gypsy ethnic minority, an assumption that the problem may be solved by displacing Gypsies from the Czech Republic, an assertion of a reverse discrimination, an exploitation of the government, etc.
