Why the idea of multiculturalism failed?

Abstract:

Diploma thesis „Why the idea of multiculturalism failed?” is dealing with the issue of a new social theory in political and social philosophy. It is an analysis of the problems that are posed by the project of multiculturalism. This ideology is trying to keep the type of rationality, a platform which represents a form of thinking about good society. To accept this requirement, means to analyse the way of justification of functionality and malfunction of this theory and to confirm or deraign its relevance based on the results of the analysis. Crucial topics contained in the paper are dispute of liberalism and communitarianism, antagonism of global capitalism and forms of recognition in current society. The result of critical reflection is focus on weak spots of multiculturalism through these topics and revelation of its paradox as a new form of recognition.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca „Prečo stroskotala idea multikulturalizmu?" sa zaoberá problematikou novej sociálnej teórie v politickej a sociálnej filozofii. Jedná sa o analýzu problémov, ktoré prináša projekt multikulturalizmu. Táto ideológia sa snaží udržať typ racionality, platformi, ktorá predstavuje nárok na spôsob myslenia o dobrej spoločnosti. Prijať takúto požiadavku znamená analyzovať spôsob zdôvodnenia funkčnosti i nefunkčnosti teórie a na základe dôsledkov analýzy potvrdiť či vyvrátiť jej platnosť. Rozhodujúce námety obsiahnuté v práci sú: spor liberalizmu a komunitarizmu, antagonizmy globálneho kapitalizmu a formy uznania v dnešnej spoločnosti. Uváženie tejto problematiky vyúsťuje do kritickej reflexie, ktorá poukazuje na nedostatky multikulturalizmu a rozkrýva jeho paradoxnosť ako novej formy uznania.
