Autofiction in the contemporary German Literature written by female authors

Abstract:

This master's thesis focuses on the genre of autofiction, which is placed among autobiographical writing. Our study examines the key characteristics and features of this genre in a rigorous manner and explores what opportunities the use of this specific genre in literature offers. In the theoretical part, we define the genre of autofiction at the borderline between the genres of fiction and non-fiction, as well as its characteristics and its place among other autobiographical genres. We pay special attention to the perspectives of narrative construction and use of narrative within autofiction. In the practical part, we focused on examining the perspectives of the use of autofiction in the field of corporeality and the so-called women's writing, and considering autofiction as a linguistic tool of discourse for describing marginal groups' experience in literature. For this purpose, we analyzed autofiction in the novel „Frühlingserwachen“ (2019) by Isabelle Lehn as a case study.

Abstract:

Tato magisterská práce se věnuje žánru autofikce, který se řadí do autobiografického psaní. V rámci naší studie se důsledně zabýváme klíčovými vlastnostmi a rysy tohoto žánru a zkoumáme, jaké příležitosti využití tohoto specifického žánru v literatuře nabízí. V teoretické části vymezujeme žánr autofikce na pomezí žánrů beletrie a literatury faktu, jeho specifika a místo mezi ostatními autobiografickými žánry. Zvláštní pozornost jsme věnovali perspektivám konstrukce a využití narativu v rámci autofikce. V praktické části jsme se zaměřili na zkoumání perspektivy využití autofikce v oblasti tělesnosti a tzv. ženského psaní a studium autofikce jako jazykového nástroje diskurzu marginálních skupin v literatuře. Za tímto účelem jsme jako případovou studii analyzovali autofikci v románu autorky Isabelle Lehn „Frühlingserwachen“ (2019).
