Business Intelligence and Decision Making in Business Context

Abstract:

BI je v této práci pojímána jako technologie pro podporu rozhodování. Zkoumanou otázkou je následně to, zda je BI ve skutečnosti dobrým nástrojem pro podporu rozhodování. Cílem výzkumu je pak dokázat nebo vyvrátit užitečnost a potřebnost technologie BI v procesu rozhodování. Objektem výzkumu jsou velké a střední výrobní podniky České republiky. Vybranou technikou sběru dat pro kvantitativní výzkum je dotazník rozeslaný jak online, tak i offline metodou; pro kvalitativní výzkum byla vybrána metoda rozhovorů. V rámci stanoveného cíle v teoretické části definuji rozhodovací proces a problém klasifikace rozhodování, rozhodnutí a rizika, vysvětlím pojem BI a zaměřím se na jednotlivé komponenty BI. Praktická část je zaměřena na zkoumání výzkumného modelu, který zahrnuje prvky celkového konceptu, jež jsou popsány v teoretické části. Vybranou metodou ověřování stanovených hypotéz je kvantitativní metoda, tj. výpočet statistických významných vztahů mezi jednotlivými proměnnými, stanovenými pomocí dotazníku. Získané výsledky jsou následně ověřeny pomocí kvalitativních metody rozhovorů. Očekávanými výsledky výzkumného modelu jsou pozitivní vlivy použití BI v rozhodování v podnikovém kontextu. Dílčím přínosem práce jsou specifická doporučení k využití BI v podnikové praxi.

Abstract:

In this paper BI is considered as a decision support technology. The goal of this research is then whether BI is in fact a good decision support tool. The aim of the research is then to prove or disprove the usefulness and necessity of BI technology in the decision making process. The object of the research is large and medium-sized manufacturing companies of the Czech Republic. The selected data collection technique for quantitative research is a questionnaire sent out both online and offline; the method of interviews was chosen for qualitative research. Within the set of goals in the theoretical part are defined the decision-making process and the problem of decision-making, decision-making and risk classification, is explained the term BI and is focused on the individual components of BI. The practical part is focused on the research model, which includes elements of the overall concept, which are described in the theoretical part. The chosen method of verification of the set hypotheses is a quantitative method, i.e. the calculation of statistical significant relations between individual variables, determined by means of a questionnaire. The obtained results are subsequently verified using qualitative methods of interviews. The expected results of the research model are the positive effects of using BI in decision-making in the corporate context. Partial benefit of the thesis are specific recommendations for using BI in business practice.
