Abstract:

Pozdně gotická kaple sv. Jiří v Litovli tradičně nazývaná jako česká či moravská dnes stojí v těsné blízkosti farního kostela sv. Marka. Je známo, že původně bývala součástí hřbitova, který kostel až do 18. století obklopoval. Díky reliéfním erbům ve svornících zaklenutí kaple je zřejmé, že její stavbu je třeba klást do souvislosti s rodem pánů z Vlašimi. Dosavadní literatura většinou také uvádí, že kaple byla postavena jako prostor určený pro utrakvistické bohoslužby v českém jazyce. Při nedávné památkové obnově kaple a restaurování její výzdoby byly učiněny nové objevy, ke kterým se v poslední době již někteří badatelé vyjadřovali. Úkolem této diplomové práce je shrnout dosavadní poznatky, analyzovat architektonické prvky kaple i její výzdobu, u které se nejzásadnější zdá klenba s erbovní galerií, posléze odpovědět na otázku, jakou roli hrála kaple v programu reprezentace rodu pánů z Vlašimi, a dále se zamyslet nad zatím ne zcela vyřešenou hádankou týkající se původních funkcí kaple.

Abstract:

Late Gothic chapel St. George in Litovel, traditionally so-called Czech or Moravian, is situated next to St. Mark’s parish church. It’s known to be a part of the cemetery, that had surrounded the church till the end of the 18th century. From the bas-reliefs with coats of arms on the keystones in the vault of the chapel it is evident that the construction of the chapel had to be coherent with the Lords of Vlašim. The existing literature usually suggests that the chapel was built as a place of Utraquist worship in Czech language. During the recent restoration of the monument and its decoration, the new scientific discoveries have been made. Some researchers have already commented them. The aim of the thesis is to summarize the existing finding and to analyse the architectural elements and the decoration of the chapel, where the gallery of coats-of-arms seems to be the most important. The thesis deals with the role the chapel had played in representative strategy of the Lords of Vlašim. Next, so far unsolved riddle dealing the original functions of the chapel will be thought over.
