This MA diploma thesis focuses on selected rewritings of master narratives by J.M. Coetzee, Jean Rhys and Margaret Atwood. The first chapter deals with theoretical background, introducing concepts of binary oppositions and questioning of metanarratives as well as the importance of ʻoppositional literature’ (in Thieme’s words) in challenging dominant literary canon.The second chapter focuses on the …more
