Negotiation of Parkinsons Disease Ab-Normality

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje tématu vyjednávání normality a ne/normality u osob nemocných Parkinsonovou nemocí (PN). Text se snaží zodpovědět základní otázku: Jak ovlivňuje hegemonní diskurs normality jednání nemocných Parkinsonovou nemocí v jejich každodenním životě. Analytická část poukazuje na normalizační tendence a tlaky, které působí na nemocné v zájmu normalizovat jejich těla, držet hranice mezi normálním a patologickým. V tomto kontextu je též reflektováno vlastní jednání nemocných PN, jako nositelů sociálního stigmatu a jejich nakládání s nabytou stigmatizovanou identitou. Diplomová práce se snaží odkazovat na tradici Disability studies, která mají zájem o dekonstrukci rigidních kategorií vnímání disability. Text tak ukazuje na jedné straně tradiční vnímání disabilních, jako odlišných a na druhé straně se snaží poukázat na ambivalenci používaných kategorií hodnocení nemocných, jako odlišných či ne/normálních jedinců ve společnosti.

Abstract:

Thesis addresses capability to deal with known abnormalities in lives of patients suffering from the Parkinson's disease (PD), trying to answer the burning question of how does the hegemonic discourse of common actions of Parkinson's diseased affects their everyday life. Analytical part points out the normalized strains and pressures affecting patients in course of preserving their bodies, while maintaining borders between normality and pathology. In context of reflecting the very behavior of diseased, as bearers of social stigma, and their ability to handle gained stigmatized identity, is this work referring to the tradition of Disability studies, which take part in deconstruction of rigid disability perception categorization. Text shows traditional recognition of the disabled as abnormal on one side, and the ambivalence of categories used to judge the ill as those who are different to the healthy population.
