The influence of euro adoption on bank profit in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce je věnována zavedení eura v českých podmínkách. Vzhledem k rozsáhlosti daného tématu se autorka rozhodla zaměřit se na bankovní sektor. Dané téma je bezesporu aktuální jak pro experty, tak pro širokou občanskou veřejnost. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí: teoreticko-metodologické a praktické části. V teoretické části diplomové práce jsou rozebrány teoretické aspekty názorů českých ekonomů a politiků a také kroky, které byly učiněny v oblasti financí. V praktické části práce se již rozebírají konkrétné dopady přijetí eura na bankovní sektor. Cílem práce je prozkoumat teoretické a praktické aspekty zavedení eura a zjistit, jak tento proces může ovlivnit jak banky, tak vkladatele a vztahy mezi nimi. Ústřední hypotézou je následující tvrzení: zavedení nové společné měny bude pro banky ztrátové zejména v prvních měsících, pak již tento negativní vliv oslábne. Všechny výsledky jsou patřičně okomentovány a doloženy statisticky.

Abstract:

The work is dedicated to the euro adoption in the Czech Republic. Author decided to focus on the banking sector. This theme is undoubtedly very current for both experts and laypersons. The work consists of two parts: theoretical-methodological and practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis is dealing with theoretical aspects of euro adoption, opinions of the Czech economists and politicians, as well as the steps that have been taken in the field of finance. The practical part of the work is dedicated primarily on the discussion of specific impact of the euro adoption for the banking sector. The aim is to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of the euro adoption, examine how this process can affect both banks and depositors, and the relationships between them. The central hypothesis is the following statement: the adoption of a new common currency for banks will mean loses during the first months, after it this negative impal will be weakned. All results are properly commented and documented statistically.
