Child Abuse and Neglect

Abstract:

My work is dedicated to an extremely serious issue – syndrome CAN (child abuse and neglect). In the first, theoretical part I describe definitions and signs of a child with CAN syndrome, identification, description of types of abuse, and neglect. The theoretical part contains 4 chapters. In the own research section, I compare two groups of respondents and find out their knowledge and experience in the field. The first part consists of a group of primary school teachers in Košice, Slovakia, the second professional group of social workers in the social care center in Košice, Slovakia. The aim is to find out which group has greater knowledge and experience according to predetermined hypotheses and parameters. As a method of research, I chose interviews, a detailed description and an analysis of interviews are written in Chapter 6. The prerequisite of the research is that the group of social workers will be more experienced and have higher knowledge than the respondents of the elementary school according to the given parameters. The result of the research is negative, and the lay group of teachers has demonstrated a high level of knowledge on the subject.

Abstract:

V práci sa venujem mimoriadne závažnej téme – syndrómu CAN (týrané, zanedbávané a zneužívané dieťa). V prvej, teoretickej časti popisujem definície a znaky dieťaťa so syndrómom CAN, identifikáciu, popis druhov týrania, zanedbávania a zneužívania. Teoretická časť obsahuje 4 kapitoly. Vo výskumnej časti porovnávam dve skupiny respondentov a zisťujem ich vedomosti a skúsenosti v danej oblasti. Prvú časť tvorí kolektív učiteľov ZŠ v Košiciach, SR, druhú profesionálna skupina sociálnych pracovníkov centra sociálnych služieb v Košiciach, SR. Cieľom je zistiť, ktorá skupina má väčšie vedomosti a skúsenosti podľa vopred určených hypotéz a parametrov. Ako metódu výskumu som zvolila rozhovory, detailný popis a rozbor rozhovorov uvádzam v kapitole 6. Predpokladom výskumu je, že skupina sociálnych pracovníkov bude mať väčšie skúsenosti ako respondenti základnej školy podľa daných parametrov. Výsledok výskumu je negatívny, aj laická skupina učiteľov preukázala vysoké vedomosti na uvedenú tému.
