Abstract:

Diplomová práca rozoberá možné použitie High-level syntézy pre vývoj na FPGA a používa ju na vytvorenie FPGA dizajnu pre video kompresný kodek. Taktiež vysvetľuje problematiku video kompresie a opisuje priemyslom využívaný štandard. Opisuje zvolené OneApi rozhranie a funkcie ktoré poskytuje, implementáciu kodeku založenom na open-source kodeku vyvinutom na Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). V rámci práce je replikované chovanie originálneho kodeku pomocou OneApi rozhrania pre FPGA programovanie. Práca popisuje vytvorený dizajn spustiteľný na FPGA zariadení. Taktiež opisuje výstup kodeku a rozoberá jeho efektivitu a možnosti pre budúce úpravy.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses possible uses of High-Level Synthesis for FPGA development and uses it to create FPGA design for video compression codec. It also explains the problematics of video compression and describes industry standards. It describes selected OneApi interface and features provided, implementation of a codec based on open-source codec developed at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Within this thesis, original codec behaviour is reproduced with the help of OneApi interface for FPGA programming. This thesis describes the design created to be run on an FPGA device. The thesis also describes codec output and discusses its efficiency and possibilities for future advancements.
