Existentialism in Řezáč's Svědek

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá existenciálními prvky v románu Svědek Václava Řezáče. Teoretická část zahrnuje úvod do tematiky existencialismu a vymezení základních existenciálních kategorií, charakteristiku Václava Řezáče a jeho literární tvorby a rovněž pojednává o Svědkovi z obecného hlediska. Následuje analýza některých důležitých složek románu a poté jeho rozbor skrze jednotlivé existenciální kategorie, který dokládá přítomnost prvků existencialismu v románu. Svědek je rovněž uveden do kontextu existenciální literatury. Závěrečnému shrnutí poznatků předchází kapitola o možných způsobech čtení tohoto díla.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on existential elements in the novel Svědek by Václav Řezáč. The theoretical part includes an introduction to the topic of existentialism and the definition of the basic existential categories, a characteristics of Václav Řezáč and his literary works and a description of Svědek from a general point of view. An analysis of some of the important aspects of the novel follows and then the novel is analysed through the existential categories. By this the presence of elements of existentialism in the novel is proved. Svědek is also set in the context of existential literature. A final summary of the findings is preceded by a chapter which deals with some of the possible ways of reading the novel.
