Každá reforma pravopisu je sprevádzaná značným rozruchom, pretože mení pravidlá, na ktoré si už väčšina obyvateľov danej krajiny zvykla. Reforma francúzskeho pravopisu uskutočnená v roku 1990 si takýto rozruch získala tiež, avšak, narozdiel od ostatných reforiem pravopisu francúzštiny, nebola vôbec zavedená do vyučovacích procesov.
