Lexical Means of Categorization and Discrimination: Depiction of Women in Newspapers
Abstract:
Tato diplomová práce pojednává o kategorizaci a diskriminaci při prezentaci žen v dvou různých typech novin, konkrétně The Sun a The Daily Telegraph. Především je zaměřena na lingvistické komponenty jazyka novinových zpráv. Hlavní podstatou je porovnání uvedených novin s cílem zjistit, zda a do jaké míry se v nich objevují stereotypy týkající se žen.
Abstract:
This diploma work deals with categorization and discrimination relating to depiction of women in the tabloid newspaper The Sun and the quality newspaper The Daily Telegraph. It mainly focuses on the lexical level of newspaper language. The basis of this work is the comparison of the newspapers with the aim to reveal to what extent stereotypes concerning women appear in the press.
