Taxonomy of the Goniatite Fauna, Biostratigraphy and Palaeoecology of the Drahany and Nízký Jseník Culm

Abstract:

Kulmské sedimenty na Moravě a ve Slezsku jsou vyvinuty v podélné struktuře jz. – sv. směru na východním okraji Českého masivu. V zásadě se rozlišují dvě hlavní sedimentační pánve: drahanská a nízkojesenická. Sedimenty Drahanské vrchoviny se litostratigraficky dělí na tři souvrství – protivanovské (spodní – střední visé), rozstáňské (svrchní visé, zóny Peδ – Goα) a myslejovické (svrchní visé, zóny Goα – Goγ). Nízký Jeseník je členěn do čtyř souvrství: andělskohorské (spodní až střední visé), hornobenešovské (střední – svrchní visé), moravické (svrchní visé, subzóny Goα2–3 - Goβmu) a hradecko-kyjovické (svrchní visé až namur, subzóny Goβspi až po zónu E1). V disertační práci je provedena revize goniatitové fauny. V drahanském a jesenickém kulmu bylo zjištěno a popsáno celkem 16 rodů goniatitů sdružených do osmi čeledí: Eoglyphioceras, Sudeticeras, Nomismoceras, Girtyoceras, Calygirtyoceras, Sulcogirtyoceras, Edmooroceras, Paradimorphoceras, Goniatites, Arnsbergites, Hibernicoceras, Paraglyphioceras, Lusitanoceras, Emstites, Neoglyphioceras a Lusitanites. Na základě studia společenstev fauny a ichnofauny jsou diskutovány biostratigrafické a paleoekologické závěry.

Abstract:

The Culm sediments of the Moravian-Silesian region are preserved in an elongated, SW-NE trending structure on the eastern margin of the Bohemian Massif. Two Culm basins are generally recognized in the Moravian-Silesian Zone: the Drahany Basin and the Nízký Jeseník Basin. The fill of the Drahany Basin has been lithostratigraphically subdivided into three formations: the Protivanov Formation of early to late Viséan age (Peγ to Peδ Zone), the Rozstání Formation of late Viséan age (Peδ to Goα Zone), and the Myslejovice Formation of late Viséan age (Goα to Goγ Zone), each consisting of several members. The lithostratigraphic succession of the Nízký Jeseník Basin has been subdivided into four formations: the Andělská Hora Formation of early Viséan to middle Viséan age, the Horní Benešov Formation of middle to late Viséan age, the Moravice Formation of late Viséan age (Goα2–3 to Goβmu Subzone), and the Hradec-Kyjovice Formation ranging from the late Viséan to the lowermost part of the Namurian (Goβspi Subzone to E1 Zone). The Goniatite Fauna of the Lower Carboniferous strata of the Nízký Jeseník Mts. and Drahany Upland is revisited in the present Dissertation Thesis. The sixteen genera of goniatites: Eoglyphioceras, Sudeticeras, Nomismoceras, Girtyoceras, Calygirtyoceras, Sulcogirtyoceras, Edmooroceras, Paradimorphoceras, Goniatites, Arnsbergites, Hibernicoceras, Paraglyphioceras, Lusitanoceras, Emstites, Neoglyphioceras a Lusitanites in eight families were described in detail. On the basis of fauna/ichnofauna assemblages study are biostratigraphical and palaeoecological consequences discussed.
