Influence of historical timber floating on the present channel morphology

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá plavením dřeva a jeho současným vlivem na morfologii koryt. Cílem práce bylo zmapování zvolených úseků bystřinných toků v oblasti Moravskoslezských Beskyd, posléze změření jejich příčných korytových profilů a zhotovení granulometrické analýzy. Mapování proběhlo pomocí GPS a autorových osobních zápisů. Měření profilů bylo zhotoveno za pomocí zjednodušené nivelace, pro odběr klastů v tocích byla autorem použita Wolmanova metoda. Pro profilové měření i odběr sedimentů bylo předem vybráno 8 úseků o délce 50 m, přičemž polovina z měřených úseků se vždy nacházela nad klauzem a druhá pod ním, aby mohlo dojít k porovnání změřených dat. Na konci práce se autor pokusil porovnat přírodní neupravené úseky bystřinných toků s úseky, na kterých prokazatelně probíhalo plavení dříví a zhodnotit zda měl proces plávky na morfologii koryt vliv, a pokud ano tak do jaké míry se tento vliv projevuje dnes. Autorovou hlavní hypotézou bylo, že neupravené toky budou mít více zaříznutý tvar, dále zde předpokládal větší výskyt tůní a stupňů. Co se týče sedimentů, autor předpokládal větší velikost klastů u přítoků, jelikož se zde nachází více zdrojnic zrn. Obě hypotézy se víceméně podařilo potvrdit u dvou měřených klauzů, avšak u zbylých dvou je potvrdit nemůžeme. Výsledky ukázaly, že tvar koryta se u klauzů Kyčerov a Lučovce výrazně nelišil, kdežto u klauzů Panský a Maxův byly rozdíly, především v hloubce signifikantní. U daných klauzů byl taktéž signifikantně odlišný průměr a množství klastů v toku. Odtoky měly spíše menší průměr klastů, nacházely se zde však i výrazně větší klasty (<100mm), které zde však se vší pravděpodobností musely být dopraveny účelově člověkem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the floating of wood and its current influence on the morphology of riverbeds. The aim of the work was to map the selected sections of torrent streams in the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy, then to measure their transverse riverbed profiles and make granulometric analysis. The mapping was performed using GPS and the autors personal records. The measurement of profiles was made with the help of simplified leveling, the autor used Wolmans method for the collection of clusters in streams. 8 sections with length of 50 m were preselected for profile measurement and sediment colletion, while half of the measured sections were always located above the clause and the other below it, so that the measured data could be compared. At the end of the thesis, the author tried to compare natural, unmodified sections of torrents with sections where the floating of wood was demonstrably carried out and evaluate whether the float proces had an effect on the morphology of the riverbeds, and if so to what extent this effect is manifested today. The autors main hypothesis was that the unmodified streams will have a more cut shape, and he assumed a greater occurance of ponds and steps. Regarding sediments, the author assumed a larger size of clusters in tributaries, as there are more grain sources. Both hypotheses were more or less confirmed for two measured clauses, but we cannot confirm them for the other two. The results showed that the shape of the riverbed did not differ significantly in the Kyčerov and Lučovec clauses, while in the clauses Panský and Maxův the differences were significant, expecially in the depth. The given clauses also had a significantly different diameter and number od clusters in the flow. The outflows had a rather smaller diameter of clusters, but there were also larger clusters (<100 mm), which, however, in all probability had to be transported on purpose.
