Russian decadent literature

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to the Russian decadent literature. It consists of an introduction, seven chapters, conclusion, of a summary in the Czech and English languages, and a bibliography. In the first chapter, so called ?Silver Age of Russian literature? is characterized and philosophical concepts influencing the literary works at the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries are outlined. The second chapter deals with decadence; it describes its formation, main features, representatives, and its connection with symbolism and modern arts. The third chapter describes shaping of Russian decadent?symbolist poetics; the main attention is paid to the theoretical works and manifestoes of the Russian decadence. The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh chapters are practical in nature; they gradually address the significant representatives of the Russian literary decadence ? Valery Bryusov, Mikhail Artsybashev, Fyodor Sologub, and Dmitry Sergeyevich Merezhkovsky. These chapters also provide an analysis of their crucial decadent literary works.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je věnována ruské dekadentní literatuře. Skládá se z úvodu, sedmi kapitol, závěru, resumé v českém a anglickém jazyce a bibliografie. V první kapitole je charakterizováno období tzv. ?stříbrného věku ruské literatury? a filozofické koncepce ovlivňující literární tvorbu přelomu XIX. a XX. století. Druhá kapitola je věnována dekadenci, popisuje její vznik, hlavní rysy, představitele a také její spojitost se symbolismem a modernou. Třetí kapitola popisuje formování ruské dekadentně?symbolistické poetiky, hlavní pozornost je zde věnována teoretickým pracím a manifestům ruské dekadence. Čtvrtá, pátá, šestá a sedmá kapitola jsou praktického rázu, věnují se postupně významným představitelům ruské literární dekadence ? V. Brjusovu, M. Arcybaševu, F. Sologubu a D. S. Merežkovskému a analýze jejich stěžejních dekadentních děl.
