Association between parental attachment, romantic attachment, attachment to God and watching internet pornography in emerging adulthood

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá souvislostí mezi citovou vazbou k matce, otci, partnerovi a Bohu a sledováním internetové pornografie u vynořujících se dospělých mužů v římskokatolické církvi. Výzkumu se účastnilo 259 respondentů ve věku 18 – 29 let (M = 23,5; SD = 2,9), hlásících se k římskokatolickému vyznání. Výsledky ukázaly pozitivní vztah mezi úzkostností v citové vazbě k matce, otci a partnerovi a úzkostností v citové vazbě k Bohu (korespondenční hypotéza). Vyhýbavost v citové vazbě k Bohu pozitivně souvisela s úzkostností k matce. Další výsledky ukázaly, že vyhýbavost k Bohu a partnerovi signifikantně predikuje vyšší frekvenci sledování pornografie. U úzkostnosti byl prokázán pozitivní vztah s úzkostností k matce u častého a občasného sledování pornografie. Dále byly ověřovány prediktory pozitivních postojů k internetové pornografii. Jako signifikantní prediktor pozitivních postojů k pornografii se ukázala frekvence sledování pornografie, vyhýbavost k partnerovi vyhýbavost k Bohu. Úzkostnost k partnerovi souvisela s negativními postoji k pornografii. Bylo také zjištěno, že nezadaní lidé sledují pornografii častěji oproti zadaným. Práce může sloužit jako podklad pro psychologickou a duchovní práci s věřícími lidmi, pro které jsou jejich blízké vztahy či sledování internetové pornografie nějakým způsobem významné.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with the relationship between attachment to mother, father, romantic partner and God and the watching of internet pornography in emerging adult men in the Roman Catholic Church. The research was attended by 259 respondents aged 18 - 29 (M = 23,5, SD = 2,9) belonging to the Roman Catholic confession. The results showed a positive relationship between attachment anxiety towards mother, father and romantic partner, and attachment anxiety to God (correspondence hypothesis). Attachment avoidance to God was positively related to mother attachment anxiety. Further results showed that avoidance to God and romantic partner significantly predicts higher rates of pornography. For attachment anxiety dimension there was a positive relationship with anxiety to mother in frequent and occasional watching of pornography. In addition, predictors of positive attitudes to internet pornography have been verified. Frequency of pornography viewing, attachment avoidance to partner, and attachment avoidance to God were shown as significant predictors of positive attitudes towards pornography. Attachment anxiety towards partner was associated with negative attitudes towards pornography. It has also been found that “singles” watch pornography more often than they people, who are not in the romantic relationship currently. The work can serve as a basis for psychological and spiritual work with believers, for whom their close relationships or viewing of internet pornography are somewhat important.
