Inflation targeting: monetary policy CNB

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Cílování inflace: měnová politika ČNB“ je problematika měnové politiky, zvláště pak režim cílování inflace. První kapitola obsahuje teoretické přístupy poptávky a nabídky peněz a přehled měnověpolitických nástrojů sloužících k dosahování cílů centrálních bank. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na nejvýznamnější režimy měnové politiky (cílování peněžní zásoby, cílování měnového kurzu, režim s implicitní nominální kotvou a cílování inflace). Další kapitola se zabývá vývojem režimů měnové politiky v České republice a přechodem na cílování inflace. Poslední kapitola obsahuje analýzu a zhodnocení měnové politiky České národní banky, počínaje zavedením režimu cílování inflace v roce 1998 až do roku 2008.

Abstract:

The subject matter of the thesis with a title “Inflation Targeting, the CNB’s Monetary Policy” is the monetary policy issue with a special focus on the inflation targeting theory. The first chapter contains theoretical aspects of money supply and demand and an overview of monetary and political tools serving for achieving objectives by central banks. The second chapter deals with the most important monetary policy theories (monetary targeting, exchange rate targeting, policy with an implicit nominal anchor and inflation targeting). The next chapter deals with the development of the monetary policy theories in the Czech Republic and the transfer to the inflation targeting. The last chapter contains the analysis and assessment of the Czech National Bank’s monetary policy starting from implementation of the inflation targeting theory in 1998 up until 2008.
