The Machine Man In The Novel Shoot By Luigi Pirandello

Abstract:

This study deals with Luigi Pirandello’s novel The Notebooks of Serafino Gubbio, Cinematograph Operator (published in English as Shoot). In this novel Luigi Pirandello express his negative attitude towards technique and development. Within the character of the main representative Serafino Gubbio, author expand the basic motives of his writing, for example, the vision of the world as a place which is dominated by insincerity, norms and law, furthermore a continuously contradiction between reality and pretence, along with the disability to change one’s own role in the community, that was assigned to us by society itself. The study’s central part intended for exploring the patterns of the major representative. The study tries to expose, how does the author’s vision has been fulfilled, that “Human being” when contacts technique becomes “Thing”.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá analýzou románu Luigiho Pirandella Quaderni di Serafino Gubbio operatore. Jedná se o dílo, ve kterém Luigi Pirandello vyjadřuje svůj negativní postoj vůči technice a pokroku. Do postavy protagonisty Serafina Gubbia autor projikuje hlavní témata své tvorby, např. vize světa, ve kterém dominují pokrytectví, formy a zákony, dále neustálý rozpor mezi realitou a přetvářkou a nemožnost změny vlastní role ve společnosti, která nám byla společností přidělena. Hlavní část práce patří studiu charakteru hlavního představitele. Práce ma za cíl ukázat, jakým způsobem se naplňuje autorův názor, že člověk v kontaktu s technikou se stává „věcí“.
