Correlation between self-directed learning, general causality orientations and academic resilience in university students.

Abstract:

Studie se věnuje souvislosti mezi sebeřízeným učením (SDL), obecnými kauzálními orientacemi a akademickou resiliencí u vysokoškolských studentů. Jedná se o korelační studii zahrnující 213 respondentů ve věku 19-30 let s převahou žen (72.8 %). Kontrolní orientace, jež je jednou z kauzálních orientací, nebyla kvůli nedostačující reliabilitě zahrnuta do analýzy. Souvislost byla nalezena mezi všemi zmíněnými proměnnými, nejvýraznější spojitost byla zjištěna mezi sebeřízeným učením a autonomní orientací (r = .45), SDL taktéž korelovalo s akademickou resiliencí (r = .24). Kromě toho byly zjištěny rozdíly mezi studenty bakalářského a doktorského studia v úrovni SDL, kdy studenti doktorského studia převyšovali ostatní studenty. Naopak negativní korelace byla zjištěna mezi úrovní SDL a impersonální orientací (r = - .29), která zároveň souvisí s nižší odolností v akademickém prostředí (r = - .37).

Abstract:

The study focuses on the relationship between self-directed learning (SDL), general causal orientations, and academic resilience in college students. It is a correlation study involving 213 respondents aged 19-30 years with a predominance of women (72.8 %). The control orientation, which is one of the causal orientations, was not included in the analysis due to insufficient reliability. Connections were found between all the mentioned variables, the most significant connection was found between self-directed learning and autonomous orientation (r = .45), SDL also correlated with academic resilience (r = .24). In addition, differences were found between bachelor's and doctoral students at the SDL level, with doctoral students outperforming other students. On the contrary, a negative correlation was found between the level of SDL and impersonal orientation (r = - .29), which is also related to lower resilience in the academic environment (r = - .37).
