Patients' and therapists' view of important factors of group psychotherapy

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá pohledem pacientů a terapeutů na významné terapeutické prvky v prů- běhu šestitýdenního skupinového programu. Zkoumán je pohled na pozitivní pomáhající i negativní bránící prvky. Cílem výzkumu je upozornit na možný odlišný pohled terapeutů a jejich pacientů na to, co vnímají ve skupinovém programu jako nápomocné a co naopak jako bránící dosažení terapeutické změny. Výzkumná část se nejdříve věnuje zmapování toho, co sami pacienti považují v terapii za nápomocné a co za bránící, a dále se zabývá srovnáním pohledu pacientů a terapeutů na tutéž skupinovou psychoterapii. Prostor je v práci věnován také významu psaní deníků v průběhu psychoterapie. Výzkumný sou- bor tvoří pacienti a terapeuti uzavřeného programu „N“ na oddělení pro nepsychotické poruchy v Psychiatrické léčebně Havlíčkův Brod. Ke sběru dat byla využita kombinace psaných výzkumných deníků a rozhovorů podle návodu. Výsledky naznačily, které prvky skupinové psychoterapie pacienti vnímali jako nápomocné a které jim naopak nepomáhaly nebo vadily. Zajímavé výsledky přineslo srovnání pohledu pacientů a terapeutů – nastínilo oblasti, ve kterých se terapeuti i pacienti shodují, a upozornilo na oblasti, ve kterých se pohledy rozcházejí. Práce proto může poskytnout užitečnou zpětnou vazbu terapeutům i pacientům tohoto zařízení. Nakonec práce naznačila postoj respondentů k psaní deníků v průběhu psychoterapie a možnosti jejich využití v takto zaměřeném výzkumu.

Abstract:

The study deals with patients’ and therapists’ view of important therapeutic factors du- ring the six weeks lasting group psychotherapy programme. The view of helping as well as hindering factors is studied. The main research target of the study is pointing out to the possible different view of patients and their therapists of these factors. The re- search part deals first with the patients’ view of helping and hindering factors in group psychotherapy, then with the comparison of their view and their therapist’ view. The importance of writing diaries during the psychotherapy is also mentioned. Patients and psychotherapists from the closed program “N” at the ward for not-psychotic disorders in Psychiatric hospital Havlíčkův Brod are the respondents. The data were collected in the form of written diaries and structured interviews. The results indicated, which factors of group psychotherapy patients see as helping and hindering and in which areas they have agreed and haven’t agreed with the therapists’ view. Therefore the study could be a useful feedback for the therapists as well as the patients. Finally results showed the patients’ attitude to writing diaries and the possibilities of using the diaries in a similar focused research.
