Chronická parodontitida patří mezi onemocnění, která mohou mít genetické příčiny vzniku. Je považována za multifaktoriální onemocnění, hrají u ní tedy významnou roli geny v součinnosti s faktory prostředí. It is regarded as a multifactorial disease where the enviromental factors interacting with the genes play an important role.
