Termín studená válka byl poprvé použit W. Churchillem při projevu na univerzitě ve Fultonu v roce 1946. Chtěl upozornit na napětí mezi Spojenými státy a Sovětským svazem. Na jedné straně stály ideje demokracie, kapitalismu a na straně druhé to byl zejména komunismus. Abstract:
The term Cold war was for the first time used by W. Churchil during his speech at the University in Fulton 1946. He wanted to point to growing tention between USA and Soviet Union. It was struggle between democryctic and comunistic ideas. Although this war began as a war for Europe, in fact it was a global conflict.
