Multisensory Approach in Teaching English to Upper Primary Learners with SLD

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the special methods applied in teaching English as a second language to the upper primary learners with specific learning difficulties. The theoretical part describes the medical explanations including classification, etiology and the symptoms of SLD. Then the system of remedial intervention is described. The following section is focused on the effects of SLD on language acquisition, the strategies of the pedagogical intervention and the applied methodological approaches. The practical part summarizes the action research analyzing the effects of use of the multisensory teaching aids in the English classes of upper primary learners.
