Speculative Corporatism

Abstract:

Tato práce konstruuje pojem spekulativní korporativismus. Chápe jej jako specifickou tendenci uvnitř postinternetového umění v kontextu současných filozofických teorií a uspořádání globální socio-politické situace. Tvrdím, že spekulativní korporativismus existuje jako pokračovatel kritického umění v rámci aktuální postinternetové materiality a technologických inovací přístupných širokému tvůrčímu publiku. Prohlubuje se tak trend, který započal se vznikem Webu 2.0, kdy umělci již neprezentují své osobnosti jako značky, ale imitují mediální strategie komerčních projektů a staví se na jejich úroveň. Předkládám přehled děl, která považuji za signifikantní reprezentanty těchto tendencí a následně z nich extrahuji základní stylistické parametry. Díla spekulativního korporativismu se nacházejí uvnitř virtuálního trojúhelníku mezi postinternetovým uměním, zbožní estetikou a kritickým aktivismem.

Abstract:

This thesis postulates the term speculative corporatism. It comes as specific trend among postintertnet art in context of the contemporary philosophical theories and the state of geo-political governance. I claim that speculative corporatism exist as the successor of the critical art modified by the current postinternet materiality and technological innovations accessible to broad public. We observe intensification of the artist-as-brand trend, brought up by the introduction of the Web 2.0. The artist no longer create their brands yet they are mimicking the commercial project distribution strategies and becoming artist-as-corporation. I analyze the group of artworks that best represent the trend and extract from the artworks the essential stylistic parameters. The works of speculative corporatism are found within the boundaries of postinternet art, commodity esthetics and critical activism.
