Abstract:

Frazer i Durkheim představují dvě důležité osobnosti, které napomohli rozvoji religionistiky jako vědní disciplíny. Durkheim studoval původ a projevy totemismu zejména z hlediska fungování společenství. Jeho studie zobrazují náboženství jako danou součást společnosti, kde se víra vyvíjí a posouvá u všech členů těchto společenství. Frazer se ve své proslulé práci Zlatá ratolest věnuje vysvětlení pojmu "tabu" dále vysvětluje pojem "totemismus", ten se stal základem pro vznik rozsáhlé čtyřsvazkové studie Totemismus a exogamie. Frazer rozumí totemu jako druhu materiálního objektu, kterého si primitivní kmeny váží, neboť věří, že mezi ním a každým členem společnosti existuje blízký a vzájemně propojený vztah. Podobně jako Durkheim, také Frazer rozlišuje alespoň tři druhy totemů klanový totem, sexuální totem a osobní totem. Součástí totemistických společností jsou také mnohá tabu. Mezi tabu je nejčastěji zahrnut zákaz požívání určitých jídel.

Abstract:

Frazer and Durkheim are two important people that helped wiht the development of religion as a field of science. Durkheim has studied the origin and acts of behavior in totemism. His studies show religion as a given part of society where faith evolves and is strenghtened in to every member of these communities. His statement about the unmistakable evolution was inspired be Frazer work and it is probable that he assumed a similiar development in every asoriginal tribe that practiced totemism. Frazer in his famous work The Golden Bough tries to explain the concept of the word "Taboo" and also "Totemism" which them became the foudations for the creation of the extensive studies of four-volumes about Totemism and exogamy. Frazers understanding about totems is that they are a type of material object that primitive tribes have in deep respect because they believe there exists a close and interrelated relationship between him and every member of the society. Similarly as Durkheim, Frazer also distinguishes at least three types of totems-tribal totem, sexual totem and personal totem. Totemistic societis have also many taboos. Most taboos are oftem the prohibition of certain foods.
