Gender Specific Features in Political Spoken Discourse

Abstract:

This bachelor?s thesis deals with gender discourse, political discourse, and the combination of the two. The aim of this thesis is to find out whether and (if so) how spoken political discourse differs on the basis of gender, and if any of the gender specific features appear also in political discouse. The theoretical part sheds light on the difference between sex and gender, as well as two diverse theories on the differences in gender discourse. It also addresses political discourse and its typical attributes. The empirical part then comprises of an analysis of political discourse used in a political debate.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá diskurzem genderu, diskurzem politiky a také spojením těchto dvou. Cílem práce je zjistit, jestli se mluvený politický diskurz liší na základě genderu, případně jak, a zdali se některé ze specifických znaků genderového diskurzu vyskytují i v diskurzu politickém. Teoretická část objasňuje rozdíl mezi pohlavím a genderem a dvě různé teorie rozdílnosti genderového diskurzu. Dále se zabývá diskurzem užívaným politiky a jeho typickými rysy. V praktické části je pak analyzován politický diskurz na základě politické debaty.
