Contemporary usage of the imperfect subjunctive in the European and Mexican Spanish

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the usage of the imperfect subjunctive that is compared within the European and Mexican Spanish. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical one. In the theoretical part there are described forms of Spanish subjunctive, historical evolution of the imperfect subjunctive and differences in the usage of its two forms according to normative grammar in the mentioned varieties of Spanish. The practical part deals with the analysis of the data of Spanish text corpus CREA and the comparison of the usage of the two forms of imperfect subjunctive of ten frequent Spanish verbs from the pragmatic point of view.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá užitím konjunktivu imperfekta, které je srovnáváno v rámci evropské a mexické španělštiny. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části jsou popsány formy španělského konjunktivu, historický vývoj konjunktivu imperfekta a rozdíly v užívání jeho dvou forem dle normativní gramatiky ve zmíněných variantách španělštiny. Praktická část je věnována analýze dat španělského jazykového korpusu CREA a srovnávání užití obou forem konjunktivu imperfekta deseti často používaných španělských sloves z pragmatického hlediska.
