Needs of the patient with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce je popsat bio-psycho-sociální-spirituální potřeby pacientky s Alzheimerovou chorobou prostřednictvím případové studie (kazuistiky). Dále se práce zaměřuje na negativní i pozitivní dopad onemocnění na celou rodinu. Metodika: Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Empirická část je zpracována kvalitativní metodou průzkumu, případové studie (kazuistiky). Kazuistika je rozdělena do tří částí. První a druhé stádium nemoci je popisováno v domácím prostředí. Popis v domácím prostředí nám umožňuje pohled na počáteční období nemoci a jejího průběhu, dále na potřeby pacientky a péči rodinných příslušníků. Třetí stádium je popisováno v ústavní péči. Zdrojem informací bylo pozorování pacientky v ústavní péči, zdravotnická dokumentace, rozhovory s rodinnými příslušníky a dobrovolníkem. Rodina také poskytla informace písemnou formou. Výsledky: V kazuistice jsou popisovány potřeby pacientky ve třech stádiích onemocnění od počínající demence až po těžkou formu nemoci. Bio-psycho-sociální potřeby se prolínají ve všech stádiích onemocnění, avšak spirituální potřeby ustupují do pozadí. Na počátku onemocnění bylo pro pacientku důležité uspokojovat především potřeby bezpečí a jistoty. V pozdějších fázích to byly potřeby biologické, potřeba lásky, úcty, důstojnosti a potřeby být bez bolesti. Velmi pozitivní vliv na průběh onemocnění pacientky měla rodina. I přes vyčerpávající péči se podařilo zkvalitnit život nemocné. Závěr: Tato bakalářská práce by měla poukázat na problematiku Alzheimerovy choroby. Ta se nedotýká jen nemocného, ale celé rodiny. Onemocnění je dlouhodobé a vyčerpávající. Proto by nemocný i rodinní příslušníci měli být dobře informováni o nemoci, průběhu, ale i dalších návazných zdrojích. Abstract:

Objective: The subject of my thesis is a description of bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of female pacient with Alzheimer's disease and evaluation of her life quality. My thesis also intents on its negative and positive impact on the whole family. Methods: My thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical ones. The empirical part is processed by a qualitative method of case research (case report). My case report has got three parts. The first and second stages of the disease are described in home environment. This description enabled us a look at the beginnings of the disease, its course, the needs of our patient and the care of her family members . The third stage of the disease was in an institutional care. My main information source was observation of the patient, then medical records, interviews with family members and volunteers. The family also provided information in written form. Results: In the case report there are described needs of the patient in all three stages of disease, from the beginning of dementia to the severe stage of the disease Bio-psycho-social needs appeared in all stages of disease on the contrary of spiritual needs, which were pushed into the background. At the beginning of the disease it was necessary for the patient to meet the needs of safety and security. In later stages biological needs were more important, for example, the need for love, respect, dignity and especially needs to be without pain. The family had a very positive effect on the course of the patient's disease. Due to an exhaustive care, the quality of life was improved. Conclusion: This bachelor thesis should point out the issue of Alzheimer's disease. It affects not only the sick but the whole family, too. The illness is long and exhausting. Therefore, sick and family members should be well informed about the disease, its course, and other related sources.
