Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá, jak je ne-lidská povaha terapeutického chatbota Woebota zprostředkována a začleněna do narativů biomedicínské péče o duševní zdraví. Tato studie využívá metodologii případové studie ke zkoumání sociální agency Woebota optikou sociální antropologie. Metody sběru dat zahrnují polostrukturované rozhovory, autoexperiment a analýzu komunikace vývojářů skrze oficiální webové stránky. Obsahová analýza dat poskytuje hluboké porozumění tomu, jak je sociální agency Woebota zprostředkována v kontextu chápání terapie vybraných uživatelů. Tento výzkum přispívá k pochopení toho, jak jsou ne-lidští agenti, jako jsou chatboti, integrováni do společnosti, konkrétně do systému péče o duševní zdraví.

Abstract:

This thesis examines how the non-human nature of Woebot, a therapeutic chatbot, is mediated and incorporated into mental-health care narratives within a biomedical cultural healing system. This study employs a case study methodology to investigate the social agency of Woebot through a lense of social anthropology. The methods of collecting data include semi-structured interviews, auto-experiment, and an analysis of the developers' official website communication. The content analysis of the data provides an in-depth understanding of how Woebot's social agency is mediated within the context of users' understanding of a therapy. This research contributes to an understanding of how non-human agents, such as chatbots, are being integrated into society, in particular within the mental health care system.
