Menový trh známy pod skratkou FOREX je stále najlikvidnejšou zložkou finančného trhu so svojim denným objemom niekoľkých bil. USD presahuje ostatné zložky finančných trhov (akcie, dlhopisy). Nástroje finančného trhu sú členené z viacerých hľadísk, kľúčové členenie je však podľa termínu vysporiadania – menové deriváty.
