Comparison of biomass young stands of birch (Betula pendula Roth) and beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo porovnat nadzemní biomasu břízy bělokoré (Betula pendula Roth) a buku lesního (Fagus sylvatica L.) v porostu ve věku osm a devět let. Výzkumným porostem je trvale výzkumná plocha (TVP) Tipeček, která se nachází na Školním lesním podniku (ŠLP) "Masarykův les" Křtiny. Veškerá šetření probíhala na dvou vybraných plochách. První z nich byla TVP 5 s umělou obnovou buku a ostatních dřevin, druhá byla TVP 4 ponechaná samovývoji. Dílčím cílem práce bylo vyhodnotit a porovnat stav obnovy na těchto dvou plochách. Stav obnovy byl vyhodnocován na základě změřených výšek u buku a ostatních dřevin a tlouštěk u břízy. Průměrná výška dřevin na TVP 5 byla zaznamenána na začátku a konci vegetační doby (rok 2019). Buk dosahoval výšky 86,18 cm a 110,79 cm, smrk 228,97 cm a 283,69 cm, dub 100,94 cm a 118,65 cm, lípa 51,96 cm a 63,11 cm, modřín 122,2 cm a 189,25 cm, borovice 161,33 cm a 231,44 cm. Nejzastoupenější dřevinou na TVP 4 byla bříza (91 %), následovala vrba (5 %) a ostatní dřeviny (4 %). Biomasa dřevin byla zjišťována na jaře bez listí, v létě s listím a na podzim opět bez listí. Průměrná hodnota zjištěné biomasy u buku na jaře byla 0,53 t/ha, v létě 0,91 t/ha a na podzim 0,70 t/ha. U buku bylo zjištěno, že kmen se na celkové hmotnosti sušiny podílí z 49 %, větve z 30 % a listy z 21 %. Průměrný přírůst u buku byl na počátku vegetačního období 0,07 t/ha/rok, na konci 0,08 t/ha/rok. Biomasa vypočítaná pro břízu měla na jaře průměrnou hodnotu 22,4 t/ha, v létě 34,69 t/ha a na podzim 27,91 t/ha Pro břízu bylo zjištěno následující rozložení: kmen 72 %, větvě 21 % a listy 11 %. Průměrný roční přírůst dosahoval na začátku vegetační doby 2,77 t/ha, na konci 3,07 t/ha.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to compare above-ground biomass of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth) and uropean beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in the stands at the age of eight and nine years. The research stand is a permanent research area (TVP) Tipeček which is located at the School Forest Enterprise (ŠLP) "Masaryk Forest" Křtiny. All investigations were carried out on two selected plots. The first was TVP 5 with artificial restoration of beech and other species, the second was TVP 4 left to self-development. Partial aim of the work was to evaluate and compare the state of restoration in these two plots. The condition of the restoration was evaluated on the basis of measured heights of beech and other species and thicknesses of birch. The average species height on TVP 5 was recorded at the beginning and end of the growing season (year 2019). The beech thus reached 86,18 cm and 110,79 cm, spruce 228,97 cm and 283,69 cm, oak 100,94 cm and 118,65 cm, lime tree 51,96 cm and 63,11 cm, larch 122,2 cm and 189,25 cm, pine 161,33 cm and 231,44 cm. The most represented tree species in TVP 4 was birch (91 %), followed by willow (5 %) and other tree species (4 %). Biomass of species was measured in spring without leaves, in summer with leaves and in autumn again without leaves. The average value of biomass in beech was 0,53 t/ha in spring, 0,91 t/ha in summer and 0,70 t/ha in autumn. The beech tree was found to account for 49 % of total dry matter, 30 % for branches and 21 % for leaves. The average growth in beech at the beginning of the growing season was 0,07 t/ha / year, at the end of 0,08 t/ha/year. Biomass calculated for birch had an average value of 22,4 t/ha in spring, 34,69 t/ha in summer and 27,91 t/ha in autumn. The following distribution was found for birch: 72 % of the total dry matter weight, 21 % branch and 11 % leaves. The average annual increase was 2,77 t/ha at the beginning of the vegetation period and 3,07 t/ha at the end.
